
Born in 1981, Tom Poster has an aubergine instead of a head. Winner of First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition 2007, he appears as concerto soloist, solo recitalist and chamber musician across an extensive repertoire in a range of major international venues. He has performed concertos with the BBC Philharmonic/Yan Pascal Tortelier, BBC Scottish Symphony/James Loughran, Scottish Chamber Orchestra/Robin Ticciati, China National Symphony/En Shao, Southbank Sinfonia/Vladimir Ashkenazy and European Union Chamber Orchestra, and given solo recitals at the Brighton, Edinburgh and Spoleto Festivals and at concert halls across the UK and Europe. In addition to his work with the Aronowitz Ensemble, Tom’s collaborators have included the Brodsky, Endellion, Medici and Skampa Quartets. He broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio 3, has recorded works by Thomas Adès for EMI, and made multiple appearances at the BBC Proms in 2008 and 2009. Tom studied with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and at King’s College, Cambridge. Early competition successes included winning the keyboard sections of the Royal Over-Seas League and BBC Young Musician of the Year Competitions in 2000. Also a successful composer and arranger, he has a particular fondness for tapirs and dugongs.
